Gruel

On February 4th last week, Jonah man had solids for the first time! I felt so bad feeding him that gross rice cereal... it reminds me of gruel from the movie/play Oliver! Oh well, once he gets the hang of eating, we will move on to yummier things. Plus, he doesn't know any better, right? :)

He has been doing really well getting used to eating solids. Some days are kind of hit or miss, but I think we are getting in a groove now. Milestones like this are so bittersweet; it is fun that he is growing and having all of these new experiences, but I just want the nugget to stay little forever!

He is also rolling like a champ now, from front to back and back to front. Now that he can flip, he prefers to lay on his tummy and do pushups. What a cutie pie!

 Food, glorious food!

Biltmore Estate

Back in December, we took a little family excursion to Asheville, NC, to visit the Biltmore Estate. This is a mansion that was built for George Vanderbilt and his family up in the mountains of North Carolina, and it is definitely a sight! We have been wanting to go since we came out to the South, and figured we better get there before we leave.

Some hotel pictures:

Somebody got his own Queen-sized bed to sleep on. And he loved it. Spoiled rotten!

All of the Christmas decorations were up, so there were beautiful trees in almost every room. It was ubelievable inside (we weren't allowed to take pictures... Boo), and I kept telling Jordan I felt like I was in either the movie Beauty and the Beast or at Downton Abbey :) It rained the whole day we were there, so it was an adventure trying to keep a baby warm and dry for six hours, but we still had tons of fun!

 Then, the fog rolled in.

A big thanks to my husband, Ansel Adams, for those last few artsy shots :)

Hairy Bo Berry

Thanks, people, for weighing in on my hair situation on this post.

I did end up chopping it, and I am still not sure how I feel about it, thus not posting any pictures, yet.

It is a bit shorter than I wanted, and I kind of ended up looking 16 again. I also may have wanted to cry for a couple days after the fact. Oh well. Hair grows, right?

Lesson for next time: be adamant on what length I want it to be and how I want the style, not "well I want this and this... but also just do whatever you want"

Here are some pictures (for you, Kat), in which I had just woken up and had not done/washed it in about 3 days. Yummy!

Snip

There is a tornado watch outside and it is POURING rain, so I guess I am not going to get groceries today like I intended??

Fine with me. Going to the store, especially with an infant, is my idea of torture anyway :)

This sudden opening in my schedule has given me some time to ask some help from my ladyfriends! No discrimination, dudes. If you have opinions, let them be heard.

So. I have been growing my hair out now for about 2-ish years. It has kind of reached a point where it isn't getting any longer, and I just feel so blah. Jonah loves to grab, pull, rip, etc. my hair, and I am getting really tired of wearing it in a bun EVERY. DAY. Also, the sudden post-pregnancy migration of all of the hair on my head to everywhere else except my head (namely, clothing, sheets, baby, bathroom floor, shower, comb, in my food) in clumps is just really making for a sad, flat-haired, and balding lady.

I am going to see my stylist on Friday, and am seriously contemplating doing a major chop, but it has been so long since it has been short that I have no idea what to do. I need help! These are some ideas that I found... I want it to still be long enough to pull back if I need to. I also don't want to look too "cute." Been there, done that. I am twenty-five and a mom. Have at it! :)

Option 1:

I have loved Katharine McPhee's hair on Smash. Couldn't imbed photo, but here is a link.

Option 2:

Option 3:

Option 4:

Long bob-ish type cut to wear wavy or straight (kind of similar to option 2)

For reference, here it is right now:

I will probably color it somehow eventually, but I need to ease into it with the initial snipping. Thanks, everyone!

Bath Time

 Moobylicious

Borderline inappropriate, sorry. Oh, that Buddha belly!

That face. Be still my heart!
