Twenty-Seven

How is it that THIS is sitting in baby's room now!? I feel like people always talk about how their pregnancy drags on, but this one seems to be moving so quickly these days. I am sure I will change my tune in a couple of months :)

Wish we had more pictures of the set-up, but we were kind of distracted.

Walking by and seeing the crib now just kind of melts my heart and makes me all shmoopy inside. 27 weeks today!

Life Lately

Oh, hey...

Haven't had a lot to update the past week. We've been doing lots of baby browsing (seriously, how many car seats are there to choose from? I never realized until now). Little man's crib should be coming any time today! Wahoo! We are planning to set it up for FHE tonight, so I will try and do some documentation.

Also, I have been working a lot on this  project, though it is going a little slower than I would like because it has been 90 degrees and above every day and my body has become an oven.

Once that's complete, I just have to keep working on the nursery and getting it all put together! I have some more DIY ideas (thanks to Pinterest) to keep myself occupied.

This whole nesting thing is no joke... I am not even in the third trimester, yet (one more week) and I seriously just spend every day trying to do something new to baby's room or the house or trying to find a new thing to clean/organize.

Also, we have decided that we might take a little trip with our friends over the Fourth to this place....

Ahhh... Myrtle Beach

The whole "having a giant belly" thing on the beach this year has been making me a little wary, but I got a sassy new swimsuit, so here's hoping I feel a lot like this...

and less like this...

Can't wait! :)

Exploring

A couple of Sundays ago, we woke up from our nap and decided to take a little hike-walk at a big park/outdoor center by our church (this explains why we are basically in our pajamas).

It was just starting to get really warm at night, so the ol' pregnant body wasn't able to last for long, but we still had fun being outside and exploring a little bit.

We even got to see some fireflies! Even though the season for them doesn't last very long, lightning bugs have been one of my favorite parts of living in the South. They just melt my heart, and I wish I could carry them around in a jar with me without inadvertently murdering them :)

So glamorous!

Jord's "I forgot my tooth at home" smile

I can't look at this without giggling

From what I can gather, Chatt is all about growing. There are lots of community gardens and farmers markets. This one was pretty huge, and I had major garden envy!

The quarry

I realize the quality of that little blurb isn't top notch... Hopefully you can see them. Please ignore the husband making fun of my totally awesome shorts. He's so cheeky!

Arizona Jaunt

Last weekend, we took a little trip to Arizona to spend Father's Day/my grandma's birthday with our relatives.

My mom and aunt were very sweet and threw us a baby shower; the little man was totally spoiled, and we are so grateful for our wonderful family.

Now I look at his little items around the house and feel a bit more mama-like :) I love to picture him in his teeny hats and onesies and think about our little family's future.

 Great-grandma Dory!

 Baby J's swag :)

Horizontal stripes may have been the wrong choice... HAHAHA

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

A couple of weekends ago, we went with some friends to see the Chattanooga Lookouts play.

They are the minor league baseball team here, and though neither Jordan nor I are huge fans of the sport, we had tons of fun!

The arena is right on the river so the view is great, and it was an adventure to people watch and avoid being pummeled by fly balls all night :)

They even had a break dancing bat boy...Holla!

Furniture Re-Do

Okay, friends and family, I need more help! (Do I ask for it too much? I just value my loved ones opinions :)

I know all of you are super creative, especially my sisters-in-law, mommy, and lady friends, so I need some ideas.

When we first moved, I got a dresser and nightstand off of Craigslist for baby's room ($25 dollars for both.... seriously). They were a bit dated and needed some definite cosmetic work, but I saw potential with a little paint and elbow grease.

I took off the (yucky) hardware and removed the chunky and over the top PLASTIC (?) molds from the outside, and have since gone to work filling in the holes and chips, sanding, and priming the smaller nightstand.

If you remember this post, I was hoping to go for a darker green color for them, but I just haven't been able to find a paint color that feels right. Also, the more I realize how much time we will be spending in that room, the more I feel like a brighter and cheerier color scheme will be better. Everything else like bedding and the crib will be pretty neutral, so I want to give these puppies some color :)

At this point, I have been drawn to blues and reds, but I am really open to anything. Also, I am hoping to do both the big and little piece the same color, mostly because I am a cheapo and don't want to go crazy spendy in the paint section.

For blue, I love these:

And reds, these:

At this point, I don't have anything decoration-wise for the room, so I am just gonna let the color of them lead me in whatever direction they will. As you can see in the first picture, our walls are a tan/brown color (maybe a little darker than they look) and can't be painted, so we have to work with that.

Also, can you tell I am the most indecisive person in the world? I realize that these choices are all over the place.

Any ideas? Opinions? Suggestions?

Thank you!

A Man in the Kitchen

I usually do most of the cooking around here simply because I really like to. However, every now and then Jordan takes the reigns and makes something yummy!

The other night, he cooked us up some Japanese curry, which he ate all the time while he was on his mission. It was scrumptious, and he just looked so cute in his apron :)

Baby boy was kicking up a storm while I ate it, so I think it's safe to say he loved it, too.

This is his "candid" cooking face. Oh, he makes me laugh...

  Yummy-doodles!

Hipstamatic Aquarium

More photos using Hipstamatic on my phone...

Dory and Nemo!

Under the Sea

One of the many fun things that Chattanooga has to offer is a really awesome aquarium! We have been wanting to go since we got here, and finally got around to it a couple weekends ago.

There are two different buildings of exhibits, one that focuses on animals found in/around Tennessee and another that focuses on tropical and ocean animals. We had such a good time, and especially enjoyed the otters and penguins. Cuties!

Here are some photos for you all to have a gander at :)

 Otters!
A few of the animals were a little... quirky? This turtle kept stretching his head and feet in the air like he was doing yoga

This parrot just held himself up by his beak while squawking as loudly as possible for about 10 minutes

Shotgun

When I was at home in Arizona, I thought it would be really fun to try on my wedding dress again. Since I was starting to show quite a bit and I could barely fit into the thing on our wedding day, I am sure you can imagine how well it went.

Couldn't even zip the thing halfway! Wah wah wahh...

It did make for some funny pictures, though.

My parents and I starting laughing pretty hard, and we thought it would be better to throw in a little prop.

Us Mabrys are always willing to go the extra mile to be borderline inappropriate :)

Bahamas Part Deux

More photos from our Bahamas trip...

Gratuitous towel animal picture. Ours was a puppy

11 or 12 weeks... I remember feeling "so fat." If Alyssa then could see Alyssa now, she would change her tune :)

Our second day on shore was in Freeport. I forgot the name of this beach... When we first got there, it was raining, but thankfully it cleared up throughout the day. Our van driver (I think his name was Bear?) was pretty hilarious; I wish we had taken a picture with him!

 Conch Fritters. So yummy.

Jordan doing some Tom Petty karaoke. He's so brave. Dreamboat!

Our resident boat magician, Sri. He blew our minds nightly at our dinner table, so the last night we decided to hit his private magic show in the lounge. It was basically us and three children under the age of twelve. Sigh, magic is a way under-appreciated craft. He was the bomb!
